Bart’s 1100 km Walk – Pt 29 – Swarmed Near Creston

by bart on November 5, 2014

In this short video I descended from Kootenay Pass and make camp just outside of Creston BC by the Kootenay River. It’s a beautiful place, but all is not well.

wow..amazing how you keep on making tracks..we sure admire your stamina and determination to go the extra miles for the good cause!..looks like you need to wear a netting overcoat and hat to keep those mosquitoes off or for a natural substitute for deet: Rub fresh or dried leaves of anything in the mint family all over skin to repel insects (peppermint, spearmint, catnip, pennyroyal, etc or citronella, lemongrass, etc) Basil is also said to repel mosquitoes There’s usually no mosquitoes this time of year but it must be mild enough weather around Creston.Glad you don’t have to trudge through snow though…take care!…Max and Lise.

Thank you Max and Lise, Underpaid Sidemen! It’s great to hear from you, and I definitely have to try your natural anti-mosquito suggestions. They seem much better, and safer than deet.
